ISN’T SURIGAO MEMORIAL PARK EXPENSIVE?
No, it is less expensive than you think. No matter what lot you are comfortable with, you still get everything that Surigao Memorial Park has to offer, from the view of the sea to the stunning landscape. We know that the idea of remembering has nothing to do with money or how much you spend. It is about the memories and love you shared. You can spend too much – and you can spend too little – but the only one who knows what you spend is you. Learn why choosing the best doesn’t have to cost more.

DO I HAVE TO PAY AN ANNUAL MAINTENANCE FEE? No. Surigao Memorial Park is an endowment care cemetery. A one-time endowment care fee is charged at the time you purchase a lot, family lot, crypt or niche. The money is placed in a special trust fund, the proceeds of which are used to cover future maintenance costs throughout the park. However, from time to time SMPI may solicit donations and voluntary contributions and reserves the right partner with stakeholders for the upkeep of the park and to cover for unseen expenses.

DOES SURIGAO MEMORIAL PARK HAVE SPACE AVAILABLE?
Yes! Surigao Memorial Park currently has spaces to sell today, and many hectares of land that are still undeveloped. There is also a mausoleum planned for the future. In fact, people can keep choosing Surigao Memorial Park for many generations to come as their final resting place. For a personal tour of available space, please visit us.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRE-ARRANGEMENT OF MY OWN BURIAL?
Without pre-arrangements for funeral and cemetery services, there are too many decisions your loved ones will have to make within hours on the worst day of their lives. But if you plan ahead, your family has only two decisions – day and time of the service. With pre-arrangements, you can choose exactly what you want, finance your purchase over multiple and or pay full and receive an additional, significant discount. So don’t wait.

WHAT DO I DO IF A FAMILY MEMBER OR A LOVED ONE HAS DIED?
We understand that this is a very difficult time for you. The first thing to do is to call us, and we will do the rest. You only have to give us a copy of the Death Certificate (to be issued by the doctor or hospital) and the Burial Permit (to be issued by the Local Civil Registrar after submitting the Death Certificate). We need at least 48 hours-notice for burial arrangements. We will be charging overtime fees for notices within a 48 hour-period.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR BURIAL?
For traditional, full-body, in-ground burial:
•Space (the land)
•Outer Burial Container (provided by the Interment Service)
•Cemetery Interment Service Fee
•A Memorial Grave Marker (provided by the Interment Service)
•NOTE: The single lot has to be fully paid.

For traditional, full-body, above-ground burial in family lots:
•Space in the Family Lot (also known as a crypt)
•Cemetery Interment Service Fee
•A Memorial Grave Marker (provided by the Interment Service)
•NOTE: The whole family lot has to be fully paid before any burial on the lot.

For cremation and burial in-ground:
•Space (land)
•Outer Burial Container (this may be an urn vault or a Marble urn) from Surigao Memorial Park or your Funeral Director
•Cemetery Interment Service Fee
•A Memorial Grave Marker (provided by the Interment Service)

WHO CAN BE BURIED IN MY FAMILY LOT?
The original lot owner may give permission to anyone to be buried in his/her lot. The lot owner, spouse, and direct descendants have a “natural right” of burial, as long as there is still actual space available, according to the number of burial rights (spaces) purchased and appropriate authorization. Direct descendants are children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. Spouses of direct descendants may be buried, if there is room and with appropriate authorization. Other family members may have right of burial if no direct descendants are surviving. Contact us if you have any questions.

Once the lot owner is deceased, the right of burial passes to the children, then grandchildren, and so on. If a direct descendant is willing to wait and hope that other direct descendants will not use up all remaining space on the lot, then no reservations are required. However, if a direct heir wishes to reserve a burial space on the lot prior to the time of need, specific authorizations are required. An Affidavit must be completed by a direct descendant that lists every living direct descendant of the lot owner who has a right to be buried on the lot (or in the mausoleum).

I WANT TRADITIONAL IN-GROUND BURIAL AND MY SPOUSE WANTS CREMATION. WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE?
A cremated body can also be placed in that same crypt.

WHAT IS A CEMETERY INTERMENT SERVICE FEE?

The Interment is our exclusive service relating to the final disposition of the deceased, in accordance with standards of general care and operations of the cemetery. The interment fee includes the use of the cemetery’s professional staff, facilities and equipment, to respond to and complete the request for interment / entombment / or inurnment service, as well as maintaining the cemetery. It includes verifying ownership and right of burial privileges and confirming the permanent interment location. It also includes coordination between cemetery and administration and grounds with the funeral director and/or family members requesting and authorizing the burial service, preparation of the space for burial, and restoration of that space following the service. It includes the cement crypt vault, and a memorial marker.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UNDERGROUND (TRADITIONAL) AND ABOVE-GROUND (MAUSOLEUM) BURIAL?
It is truly a matter of preference. When you purchase underground (traditional) space, the park requires an outer burial container (known as a vault), which is provided with the interment fee. The cemetery does not allow burials without a vault – the park personnel will need to go back more frequently and add earth to the interment site because of risk of collapse.

HOW MANY BURIALS CAN YOU HAVE IN ONE LOT?
Each underground garden or lawn lot has the capacity to receive double interment, according to each of the following mix:
A. Two (2) whole body burials;
B. One (1) whole body burial and One (1) bone transfer;
C. One (1) whole body burial and One (1) cremated remains;
D. Two (2) bone transfers;

E. Two (2) cremated remains;
F. One (1) bone transfer and One (1) cremated remains.

WHAT TYPE OF MEMORIAL TABLET IS ALLOWED?
Families wishing to arrange for the placement of stone, tile or bronze plaques on either a gravesite, niche wall or for a ground niche can do so by arranging an appointment with Sales office.

WHERE IS THE CHAPEL?
The Chapel is a proper small non-sectarian covered place in Surigao Memorial Park located at the center of the park, giving all lot owners a place where they can hold the last mass and prayer or they may go simply to sit and reflect. The chapel gives people a beautiful sitting area and vantage point to enjoy the surrounding area.

WHAT IS A NICHE?
A niche wall is a specially designed wall where ashes of the deceased are placed (only one set of ashes can be interred in each space) and a bronze memorial plaque is affixed to the front of the wall. Niches spaces are available for immediate use and for pre-need (reservation).

CAN YOU HELP ME LOCATE DECEASED RELATIVES AND FRIENDS?
Yes, as long as you can provide a name, our Park Manager can carry out a search of cemetery records. If you require historic information on several family members, please email or send in a letter with as much detail as you have, and we can conduct a search and reply.

I’M MOVING OUT OF THE AREA – HOW DO I SELL MY CEMETERY SPACE?
If no burials have occurred in your space, you may sell it. You may offer it first to the cemetery. Write a letter with your signature notarized, with your stated price. In our offer letter, we will tell you your options. You do not have to accept our offer. If you do not accept our offer, you will be free to sell it on your own to whomever you wish. But do inform us so we can make the transfer of ownership official.

MAY I HAVE MY WEDDING PICTURES TAKEN AT SURIGAO MEMORIAL PARK?
We discourage using the general areas of the park as backdrops for weddings and commercial shoots. The park is the final resting place of our dearly departed and is accorded every respect due to the dead and to their visitors who prefer a placid and quiet atmosphere. Of course, you may visit the park during your wedding day and conduct a private visit of your loved one.
